Would you like to be involved in our new Village Wildlife and Nature recording project? We really need you!

Welcome to our new nature data recording project which invites everyone living and working in and visiting our West Fife villages of Charlestown, Limekilns and Pattiesmuir in Scotland to become Citizen Scientists and add any photos of wildlife and nature seen here in the villages while out and about or in your garden!
All data will be verified by 2 external experts to CLP Nature Action and then will be added to the NBN Atlas data set, which is used in conservation and decision-making processes across Scotland and the UK. We have huge gaps in nature data in this area and we need your help to fill them.
1. Sign up to inaturalist via your computer or on your phone via the inaturalist app.
Once signed up go to Community then Projects – you are searching for CLP Nature Action below.
Take a photo of any plant, flower, tree, bug, bird, frog, reptile, mushroom, toadstool, mammal, anything alive you find on the beach. Anything! This is only for wildlife and nature, not domestic animals!
2. If on a computer, click the arrow in the green circle below to upload your observation insert this image.
If you are on a phone click on Camera, Photo Library and/or record sound to access a photo to add. Insert this image.
3. Add the location you saw it via postcode or you can pinpoint it on the map it offers or you can also use OS Locate app which will give you coordinates if you are using your phone.
4. Please record in the notes anything extra you see of interest or observations if you want to (part of flock, alone, young vs adult etc), please take as clear a photo as you can.
5. Then upload! Once verified it will let you know by email.
If you have a child with a mobile phone who would be interested in getting involved in this, there is also an inaturalist app designed for children called Seek whose data, once verified will equally be added to the NBN Atlas which is such a wonderful opportunity to for young people to take their first steps into scientific data collection.
If you have any problems with this process or would like to share any experiences and how you are getting on, please do contact Jo on clpnatureaction@gmail.com, we’d love to hear your stories!
